Seattle Parks and Recreation Citywide Young Adults Program invites everyone between the ages of 12 and 19 and their family members to participate in our annual Week Without Violence Events. This year’s Week Without Violence will be October 13th-21st. This week gives youth a chance to express their feelings about violence in their community and provides safe, free recreation programs and activities.
The Week Without Violence; “No Time for Hate” theme, kicked off on Friday Oct. 13th from 6-8:30p.m. at South Park Community Center. This year we have a collaboration with Free2luv. The event lineup will provide teens an opportunity to explore bullying in all contexts while understanding how to use their personal power to create an environment free of hate, free of violence, and free to love. Food and beverages are provided by Taco Time, Trophy Cup, and Cakes and Giggles. South Park Community Center is located at 8319 8th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98108.
On Thursday, Oct. 19th, Meadowbrook Teen Life Center will host a remembrance dinner to honor loved ones who have been lost to violence. The event will last from 4-8p.m. where they will co-host a Domestic Violence Workshop lead by the Silent Task Force, and a Suicide Prevention Workshop lead by YPAR (Youth Participatory Action Research). Meadowbrook Teen Life Center is located at 10750 30th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98125
On Saturday, Oct. 21st, there will be a Self-Defense Workshop from 6:30-8:00pm at Garfield Teen Life Center.
Garfield Teen Life Center is located at 428 23rd Ave, Seattle, WA 98122.
