Seattle Parks and Recreation has reopened a section of the Burke-Gilman Trail at 13200 Riviera Pl. NE that was closed on Thursday, January 28 due to a landslide.
Two caution signs stating “Slide Area” are posted at each end of the trail section between NE 127th and NE 142nd streets to inform trail users of this area over the weekend. Seattle Parks and Recreation crews also installed barricades and traffic cones on the west side of the trail adjacent the slide area.
Seattle Parks and Recreation work crews began cleanup efforts yesterday, removing three trees and approximately 20 yards of debris from the trail surface and adjacent area. Cleanup continued today, with work crews spending the afternoon sweeping and blowing off the trail. The trail section was reopened at approximately 2 p.m. today and trail users are no longer being detoured on to Riviera Pl. NE.
Seattle Parks and Recreation will continue to monitor the area to determine when the caution signs can be removed.
