Magnuson OLA Main Entrance Gate Closure Notice

Starting as early as May 13th, the main gate at the Magnuson Off Leash Area (OLA) will be closed for accessibility improvements. Seattle Conservation Corps members will be on site for approximately two months to make accessibility improvements to the entrance gate as well as the surrounding area. During this time the following changes will be in place:

  • The main OLA entrance (central gate) will be closed; please use the northern or southern entrance gates.
  • The regular ADA parking spots at the main entrance will be closed off for resurfacing and realignment, and we will instead temporarily designate parking spots at the northern entrance as ADA spots.
  • The water spigot area will be closed off for drainage improvements, so please bring water with you for your dog’s consumption when visiting the OLA.

The graphic below shows the scope of this project, which includes:

  • Concrete pad laid out at the entrance to improve access for those with mobility issues and/or using wheelchairs; concrete padding will extend and create a path to the shelter area.
  • A new double gate will be installed, improving crowd flow at the main entrance.
  • New surfacing and alignment for ADA parking spots.
  • Drainage improvements to the water spigot area.

For the duration of this project, the Magnuson OLA parking lot may be harder to access or navigate through. So, please consider parking in one of the nearby parking lots in Magnuson Park and taking a short walk to the OLA.

Thank you for your cooperation.
