Discover the smells, colors, texture, sights and sounds of the Seattle Sensory Garden!

Access to parks and open spaces for all ages and abilities is one ingredient that makes a city livable. At Seattle Parks and Recreation, we’re working to improve access for people who are differently abled through a variety of ADA improvements, pathway repaving projects, park enhancements, and more.

The new Seattle Sensory Garden, located in the northeast corner of the Woodland Park Rose Garden, opened on July 3 and is providing a new inclusive outdoor space for people with and without disabilities to enjoy. This 1.3-acre garden is designed for all ages and abilities to experience nature through sight, touch and smell elements. The garden features an accessible paved pathway, sound elements such as wind chimes and bells, and raised beds that make it easier to smell and interact with a variety of trees and plants.

The Seattle Sensory Garden is a community-initiated project funded by the Parks and Green Spaces Levy Opportunity Funding. Seattle Parks and Recreation is working with the community to plan an opening celebration this summer. Click here for more information.
