Seattle Parks and Recreation invites input on design of Christie Park expansion project

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) invites the community to an Open House on Saturday, May 13 to provide input on the design of Christie Park and the park expansion project. Join SPR’s staff from noon to 2 p.m. at the park, 817 NE 43rd St., to learn about the park expansion project and provide design input. Neighbors of all ages are encouraged to attend and let us know what amenities and park elements are preferred as part of the addition. Light refreshments and children’s activities will be provided.

SPR purchased the .11-acre site directly adjacent and south of Christie Park, 4257 9th Ave. NE, in 2012 to increase the open space for the University District urban village. The design of the addition will incorporate accessibility features in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and provide access to open space within this high-density neighborhood. SPR will work with the community on the design and we encourage community participation. Please participate in a short survey to inform the design: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NJR8Q29.

Funding for this park project is provided by the Seattle Park District. Approved by Seattle voters in 2014, the Seattle Park District provides more than $47 million a year in long-term funding for Seattle Parks and Recreation including maintenance of parklands and facilities, operation of community centers and recreation programs, and development of new neighborhood parks on previously acquired sites.
