Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Friends of Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands, Seattle Tilth and the Berger Partnership invite you to attend the final public meeting on Thursday, September 13, 2012, 6:30-8 p.m. for the Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands (RBUFW) project. The meeting is located at 5513 S Cloverdale Street, Seattle, WA 98118. Prior to this meeting there will be a community dinner from 5:30- 6:30 p.m. at the same location.
The goal of the third meeting is to discuss and present the concept plans for community approval. In 2011, Seattle Parks selected Seattle Tilth and the Friends of RBUFW through an inclusive and competitive selection process to guide the development and long-term operation of the site. Seattle Tilth and the Friends of RBUFW have been awarded a contract and have received City Council approval.
The groups aims to establish a unique green infrastructure development by transforming the Atlantic City Nursery into a working organic urban farm and demonstration wetlands. Site improvements are scheduled to be made in 2013. The work is funded by a Neighborhood Matching Fund of the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods and the Parks and Green Spaces Levy Opportunity Fund.
