Seattle Parks and Recreation will temporarily close the Dahl Skatespot at Dahl Playfield, 7700 25th Ave. NE from Monday, April 12, 2010 through Friday, April 23, 2010 so the contractor can complete the site restoration work.
The Dahl Skatespot has been open for use since January. Due to weather and wet soil conditions, the site restoration — including drainage improvements — could not be completed. The contractor will return to the park starting Monday to complete the site restoration and drainage.
This community-initiated project was awarded a Neighborhood Matching Grant for a skatespot in 2006. This grant was used to hire a consultant for the creation of a schematic design. When skatepark funds became available, Parks moved forward to implement the project. Parks contracted with New Line/Van der Zalm consultants to complete the design of the site and provide construction administration.
