Toiletry Donation Drive Begins for Seattle Community Center Hygiene Program

A warm shower feels great to all of us, but especially to unhoused community members who have few reliable places to clean up. That’s where the Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) hygiene shower program steps in. Operated year round, this city-funded program offers free showers and towel use to those in need. It’s especially critical in this year of the pandemic for these neighbors to have access to hygiene resources. Always in short supply, however, are toiletries for use at these facilities.

Between December 7th and January 8th, four Seattle community centers are accepting donations of single use, hotel-sized toiletry items. These donations will support Seattle Parks and Recreation hygiene services for community members during the holidays.  Simple items like shampoo, hand sanitizer, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, an unopened package of socks, feminine hygiene items, soap, hand lotion, and tissues are all great items.

Community center staff will accept donations Monday through Friday from 9am to 5 pm. When you arrive, please call the center at the number listed below so staff can come outside to collect your items. On behalf of all of us at SPR, we thank you for your holiday giving spirit!
