The Seattle Board of Park Commissioners will hold its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 26, in the Kenneth R. Bounds Park Board Room at 100 Dexter Ave. N, in Denny Park at the corner of Dexter and Denny.
The meeting agenda (times are approximate) includes:
7:30 p.m. Human Resources briefing.
A briefing by Parks staff on Parks and Recreation’s human resources functions, which include employment, labor relations, safety and health, and training and education. It will include a report on accomplishments by human resources staff in 2011.
8 p.m. Briefing on a new Parks and Recreation strategic planning process
Parks staff will brief the board on a new Parks and Recreation strategic planning effort known as the Parks Legacy Plan. The 2009 Strategic Action Plan is approaching its sunset year, 2013, and Parks is beginning a process that will update the plan with an emphasis on the guiding principles of access, opportunity and sustainability, value to the community, and measurable outcomes.
A briefing paper on the Parks Legacy Plan will be available on the web by close of business Thursday, July 19; a briefing paper on Parks’ human resources functions will be available on the web by close of business Monday, July 23. Both papers will appear here.
The Seattle Board of Park Commissioners is a nine-member citizen board created by the City Charter. Four members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council;
four members are appointed by the City Council; and one member is a young adult appointed by the YMCA Get Engaged Program (http://www.leadershiptomorrowseattle.org/YMCA.asp).
