Seattle Parks and Recreation will host a community meeting to discuss the replacement of the existing lighting system at Bobby Morris Playfield on Tuesday, March 22, 2010. The meeting will take place from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Cal Anderson Shelterhouse located in Cal Anderson park at 1635 11th Ave.
This project provides for demolition of the existing outmoded lighting system and replacement with a state-of-the-art system. The new system will feature eight poles instead of 12, and will be more energy efficient. The project is funded through a 2006 ballfield lighting upgrade program, implemented over six years from the Cumulative Reserve Fund. It provides for planning, design, and construction for park lighting improvements.
Seattle Parks and Recreation is working with an expert in the field of ballfield lighting who has extensive knowledge of the latest technology. The goal of the project is to eliminate as much objectionable glare and light spill into the neighborhood as possible, while providing safe and efficient lighting for the field users.
