The Ribbon of Parks Association, Seattle Parks and Recreation, and the City Department of Neighborhoods invite the community to the first of three public meetings on Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Van Asselt Community Center, 2829 S Myrtle St.
The goal of the “Ribbon of Parks Project” is to create a plan with broad neighborhood input. The plan will include a list of projects that enhances the parks in the Othello neighborhood, concentrating on John C. Little Sr. Park, Othello Park, and Van Asselt Park. The goal is to accentuate the individual character of each park, address the challenges in each park, ensure services are not duplicated, and suggest future acquisitions.
At this first meeting the design team will gather input from the community for physical improvements and additional programming for Othello neighborhood parks.
The community has contracted with SvR Landscape Architects to help guide the process and create a professional plan. This project is funded in part by a Neighborhood Matching Fund award from the City Department of Neighborhoods.
