The Friends of Lower Kinnear Park (FOLKpark), Department of Neighborhoods and Seattle Parks and Recreation are providing a community update on Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Bayview Retirement Community, 11 W. Aloha Street, on the Lower Kinnear Park project.
This park project proposes to restore the urban forest in the park, enhance the link to the waterfront, provide trail improvements, renovate the tennis court, and create an off-leash area. Anyone interested in this project is encouraged to attend, and see how the community’s vision from last year’s design meetings is being developed.
At this meeting, HBB Landscape Architects will provide surface material options for the paths and discuss preferred grading options around the south hill and tennis court. Additionally, there will be presentations by Seattle Parks regarding the design of the off-leash area, and by volunteers who are working on subjects for interpretive signs.
The project is one of 15 to receive funding from the Parks and Green Spaces Levy Opportunity Fund. The Opportunity Fund provides $15 million for community initiated park development or property acquisition projects.
