Seattle Parks and Recreation will host the third and final community meeting for Hing Hay Park expansion project on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 6-7:30 p.m. at the International District/Chinatown Community Center, 719 8th Ave. S, 98104. The community is encouraged to be part of the process and provide input on the project.
This meeting gives the community an opportunity to see the expanded Hing Hay Park preferred design and offer feedback. Seattle Parks and the design team of SvR (a local firm) and Turenscape (a Beijing-based firm) will be at the meeting to discuss the project and answer questions.
The Hing Hay project increases the existing park (423 Maynard Ave. S) to include the site of the current post office (414 6th Ave. S). The United States Postal Service will continue to lease the site while it conducts its own public process to relocate within the Chinatown International District.
The 2008 Parks and Green Spaces Levy allocates $3 million to plan, design and construct the Hing Hay Park expansion.
For each major development or renovation project, Seattle Parks and Recreation typically holds three meetings to ensure community involvement. As part of this project, Seattle Parks will survey neighbors and conduct additional outreach at local events and meetings.
