Learning is fun with Seattle Parks and Recreation’s Preschool Program!

Seattle Parks and Recreation’s Preschool Program meets the developmental needs of the whole child through individualized instruction, learning through play, and focusing on social and emotional skills. Our school readiness preschool program is offered to children ages 3-5. We maintain a low teacher to child ratio of 1 to 8, and staff are trained in Early Childhood curriculum, CPR/First Aid, and food handling.

Daily lessons are guided by objectives that meet children where they are developmentally through emergent opportunities for growth utilizing indoor and outdoor environments. The five domains in which we focus our curriculum are physical, language and literacy, science, math and cognitive skills.

A classroom community is built in which children learn how to get along with others, self-regulate and solve problems peacefully.

Using research-based early childhood developmental curriculum, each child’s progress is tracked through observations, assessments, and portfolios. We work closely with families and meet twice a year for parent-teacher conferences.

Scholarships are available! Click here to learn more, or visit your local community center for more information.

Registration starts February 6, 2018! Sign up fast, spaces are limited.

Here’s what one parent had to say about our preschool program:

“Badhatu Endele (Ms. B) is the most wonderful person & teacher. We first met her at a day camp for our son at Carkeek Park and then we followed her to Northgate Community Center for preschool. She is so good with the kids and the parents! You can tell when someone is genuine and cares about the well-being your child. She has the most friendly disposition and a calmness that has helped my energetic son settle into the classroom setting. He feels secure and confident and wants to go to school every day of the week. He loves all the cool projects she comes up and how she will help him feel better when he gets hurt or sad. She has made a safe space for all types of fun learning and growing. She makes this class feel like a little family. I am so grateful for Ms. B and everything she does for our kids every day.” – Erica J.
