This weekend come check out Park in the Heart, an Arts in Parks funded kids’ craft table in Ballard Commons Park.
Local artist, Blanca Santander, provides free art lessons to youth of all ages. She develops different lessons for kids of different ages and teaches them new techniques (youngest participant so far was only 9 months old!).
Last weekend the summer series kicked off with kids working on their painting and coloring skills, practicing cutting with scissors, and learning how to create etchings to make prints.
The craft table plus the spray park make a perfect pair so the kids could cool off in the water and then come take a break in the shade and get creative. This program is well-loved by the Ballard community, and has quite a few regulars!
Park in the Heart will be taking place every Saturday in June from 11am-5pm, and on Fridays in August during the same timeframe.
