Family swim lessons teach beginning skills in a fun and relaxed atmosphere

16044476602_2c60e1464a_zSeattle Parks and Recreation is offering family swim lessons for beginning-level youth swim instruction for children ages 4 to 10. Lessons are held in shallow water and provide a great way for youth to learn to swim in a safe, fun and relaxed atmosphere.

A parent or guardian must be in the water with his/her child as a teaching aide, but parents/guardians do not need to know how to swim to participate. Lessons are ideal for children who would benefit from having the security of a trusted adult present to support and assist them under the direction of a skilled swim instructor.

Family swim lessons are available at all eight of our indoor pools beginning in January, 2017. There is a child lesson fee of only $7.50 per day for a half-hour swim lesson, and there is no cost for the parent/guardian in the water. Scholarship funding is available for those who meet eligibility based on family size and income, which can reduce the cost to as low as $0.75 per day.

Call or visit your local pool to sign up. Enrollments may be accepted after the start date if space is available by contacting your local pool directly.
