Join us for Walk Away Day

walk awaySeattle Parks and Recreation, in partnership with Walk Away City Collaborative, invites the public to join a youth-oriented celebration called Walk Away Day. This event empowers young people to walk away from any personal vices that they feel are stopping them from achieving their goals. Using a concept called “Reward based recognition” Walk Away City Collaborative will be giving away over $3,200 in prizes to middle and high school age youth who have registered to participate. The registration form includes a pledge to Walk Away from something negative. That pledge is then placed in a drawing to be raffled off at the event.

On Saturday, July 2, participants will gather at Franklin High School Field (3013 S Mt. Baker Blvd.) for a symbolic march that represents walking in a new direction. Onsite registration will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A community festival will be held at Genesee Field (4600 38th Ave. S). Community members can enjoy live music, performances, inspirational speakers, game activities, raffles, food and resource booths.
