Seattle Parks and Recreation to begin construction of drainage improvements at Jefferson Playfield

drainage improvement map near Jefferson Playfield

Seattle Parks and Recreation will begin construction on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015 to improve the sidewalk, drainage and parking along 16th Ave. S between S Dakota St. and S Nevada St. This project, located just west of Jefferson Playfield, includes new drainage infrastructure, wheel stops to define the parking area, and new street trees.

During construction the east sidewalk along 16th Ave S will be closed to pedestrians. The community will be rerouted to the west side of the playfield to access Asa Mercer. Construction will be completed by the end of November 2015.  Seattle Parks and Recreation and Seattle Department of Transportation collaborated on this project in response to the Asa Mercer International Middle School Parent Teacher Student Association recommendation.

For more additional questions about the project or please contact Seattle Parks and Recreation, Capital Project Coordinator Katie Bang at katie.bang@seattle.gov or 206-684-9286.
