Construction begins at Jimi Hendrix Park

Temporary construction fencing went up April 29,2015

Seattle Parks and Recreation contracted with ERRG, Inc. to transform Jimi Hendrix Park in Seattle’s Central District into a celebratory space worthy of its namesake, hometown rock icon Jimi Hendrix. The 2.5-acre green space, located adjacent to the Northwest African American Museum, will come to life throughout the summer and is scheduled to be complete by the end of September 2015.

The contractor will begin work by installing the underground utilities and the connection to the city sewer line. Next they will start the demolition work, move to the rough grading of the site, and then move on to the more visible built improvements. This project will complete phase one of the work. Fundraising for phase two has begun and information can be found here: www.jimihendrixparkfoundation.org

There will be a planting party in late summer and the community is invited to attend. Planting instructions and tools will be provided. Stay tuned for more information.
