Bring Mom to the beach this weekend at low tide; Seattle Parks naturalists will lead free family beach walks at Discovery, Carkeek parks

With low tides expected this weekend, all manner of sea creatures not usually visible will be there for the looking: anemones, Turkish towels (algae), kelp, sea suns, nudibranchs, seastars, moon snails, limpets and more.

Bring Mom for Mother’s Day and join Seattle Parks and Recreation naturalists and explore Carkeek or Discovery Park Beach with a naturalist. Search for anemones, moon snails, and clams during a great low tide. Explore the saltwater beaches of Puget Sound during low tide. Learn to find, touch, and handle, gently and safely, the unusual life forms that make their home between the tides. Discover the challenges of life in the tide zone and the adaptations these animals develop to survive. This field program allows students to experience a unique habitat in a hands-on manner that inspires curiosity, stewardship, and learning. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
