Seattle Parks to hold workshop to begin work updating Magnuson Park Strategic Development Plan
Seattle Parks and Recreation is beginning work on updating the Strategic Development Plan for Warren G. Magnuson Park, which will guide future capital investment and development for this beautiful regional park. The public is invited to a workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 11 to provide input into the first phase in the planning process.
The goals of the workshop, which takes place at the Garden Room at the Brig, 6344 NE 74th St., are:
• To recognize accomplishments that have come out of previous planning processes
• To identify desired programs, services, and amenities for the park and potential partners
• To set priorities among unmet capital needs
Parks will introduce Mayor Mike McGinn and Councilmember Sally Bagshaw at 9 a.m. After their opening remarks, participants will break out into smaller discussion and work groups, to ensure the workshop is interactive and participatory.
Because of limited seating in the Garden Room, Parks asks that organizations choose a representative to attend. Please RSVP to susan.walls@seattle.gov
Parks will ask for more commentary and input later in the development of the plan, and is welcome in writing throughout the process. After development of the draft of the first phase of the plan and review by the Executive, Parks will send the plan to the City Council for its consideration in the summer of 2012.
