Restoration Work Begins at Leschi Marina
Seattle Parks and Recreation begins construction work on the restoration of the Leschi Boat Moorage on March 1, 2010.
This major maintenance project includes replacement of the existing breakwater structures of the north and south marina basins, replacement of the floating walkway structure of the north marina, and installation of steel pilings within the north marina basin. The project also includes the addition of utility support for fire suppression and conduit for future electrical needs.
Parks is working with McClure and Sons Inc., the contractor, and Schober and Associates, the concessionaire, to mitigate construction impacts on the neighborhood and marina. Construction will require the closure of 10 parking stalls in the north parking lot and five stalls in the south. The pile driving of the new steel pilings will create construction noise and some vibration during installation, and the north walkway of the north marina will be closed while the structure is replaced.
Construction hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. All in-water work must be completed by April 30, 2010 and any remaining construction will be completed by June 2010.
